EMAG OF EFIL, 2008 - Present

One Game To Trump Them All

EMAG OF EFIL by T.C. Jester is a comedy adventure about a young bookworm and gamer geek trying to figure out the mind-boggling Game they were born to play. Although the protagonists are young adults, EMAG OF EFIL speaks to anyone who needs help finding the funny in this crazy, messed up world.  For all the bewildered players out there, the TCJ help us understand why the world is so absurd and how humor can be the best Game strategy.  So you’ll never be accepted at Hogwarts or make it as a Jedi.  No worries. Now you can learn the Way of the Foole.

EMAG OF EFIL is more than a book.  It’s an interactive meta-narrative that’s being developed across multiple media including a five book series, videogames, web, mobile, and participatory drama. Part of the global trend of pro-social entertainment, EMAG OF EFIL offers a provocative, positive and playful experience.  It’s an unpredictable journey that encourages awareness, questioning, overcoming obstacles, creativity, cooperation, non-violence and active participation in the world. aAp is currently seeking funding to produce this insanely ambitious indie project.  We’ve also been gathering a team of creative collaborators around the world to help transform EMAG OF EFIL into a collective work of absurd proportions.

EMAG OF EFIL is a property with broad crossover appeal for young adults and adults.  The target audience includes fans of fantasy, sci-fi, adventure, games, humor, positive psychology, and metaphysics.  This is a unique property that is open to diverse interpretations and multiple levels of understanding.   Book I  has received an enthusiastic response from readers of all ages who have compared it to Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy; by Douglas Adams, and Alice in Wonderland; by Lewis Carroll.  EMAG OF EFIL is a timely satire that leverages the popularity of GAMES to explore the one Game that trumps them all – THE GAME OF LIFE.

STEPMONSTERS, 2009 – Present

Who's The Real Monster??

Created by Kate Rothschild, STEPMONSTERS is an animated series about a stepmother and her two stepchildren who see each other as monsters and must battle to survive in one horrific household.  Henry and Gretta’s StepMother may look normal to everyone else but they know she’s really a hideous StepMonster planning their demise.  Little do they know that their StepMonster sees them as a couple of little StepMonsters who must be thwarted from their attempts to eliminate her. It’s an epic battle of monster vs. monsters as each episode features a ridiculous series of misunderstandings and mishaps.  Every story has two sides that leave the audience wondering who the real monsters are.

Based on her experiences as a StepMother to an eight and ten year old, Kate created STEPMONSTERS as a playful property about the humorous difference between the way kids and adults view the world. STEPMONSTERS allows families to find the funny by seeing how easily misunderstandings in life can blow out of proportion.  Ironically, Kate has a wonderful relationship with her stepkids and calling her StepMonster is their inside joke.  At least that’s what she thinks.  Maybe they have spotted her hidden tentacles…

aAp is currently producing the pilot for Nickelodeon Australia entitled  “The Surprise” and developing STEPMONSTERS as a cross-platform property with strong videogame, web and consumer product potential.

PLAY TO HEAL, 2009

A successful toy drive to bring joy to the children who lost everything in the devastating bush fires in regional Victoria was organized by artistsAWAKEproductions in March 2009.  In eight days, aAp inspired the people of Western Australia to donate 400 boxes of toys and games, plus an additional 2 tonnes of items which were collected and distributed with the generous assistance of local businesses, schools and volunteers.

According to aAp Business Leader, Jess Jessep: “I was watching news coverage of the crisis and wanted to find a way to help and involve my young kids.  I know from experience in disaster management that in the early stages of a crisis, aid work must focus on basic needs.  This means the kids don’t get the kind of special attention they need until later in the recovery process.  Emotional healing is a crucial part of relief work and enabling children to play helps them heal.  Our company is dedicated to empowering kids so this seemed like a great way to supplement the current aid efforts in Victoria.”

The “Play to Heal” Initiative was commenced after consulting with Government and Non-Government Organisations in Victoria to ensure donations would help the victims and could be distributed without diverting resources from critical needs.  The success of the initiative was due to the overwhelming generosity of the people of WA and a team of dedicated organisations, businesses and individuals, including Mosman Video, East Butler Primary School, Iona Presentation College, TOLL Express, Thrifty, COPE Sensitive Freight, Subway (Mosman Park) and the Country Womens Association of Victoria Inc (CWA).

aAp looks forward to continuing our charitable work.
